About Us

Hello and welcome! Based in Los Angeles, Bopalacious was founded by collectors Dick Blackburn and Naomi Robbins. They met in 2006 through a mutual obsession with 45 rpm records. Before Dick joined her as co-host Naomi had created the Internet radio show Lost In Paradise under the deejay name Angel Baby – one of her favorite East L.A. records. When time allows they continue to spin their vintage finds at lostinparadise.podomatic.com Now that they've created an online store you're able to shop handpicked old favorites as well as new discoveries.

Dick has been involved with vintage records for over forty years, attending record shows all around the U.S. Bopalacious comes from a reissue album he produced in the 1970's. He received a BA in Film from UCLA in 1966 and a Masters in Library Science from USC in 1975 (learning skills he now uses to keep our record collection in order). His motion picture career includes co-writer, actor and director of the cult horror movie Lemora: A Child's Tale Of The Supernatural and co-writer and actor in the black comedy Eating Raoul. He was associate editor of two books - The Catalog Of Cool and Too Cool and has co-authored two editions of the price guide Rare Rockabilly & Rock n’ Roll 45 RPMs. Record Weasels his novel about - what else? - record collectors is available through this website as is Vent, his picaresque novel about a 20th Century ventriloquist.

Naomi, a native Angeleno, graduated from Los Angeles County High School For The Arts and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago. In 2005 she joined the Internet radio station KillRadio.org where she started Lost In Paradise. In 2007, while still at KillRadio, she created her own podcast page and joined LuxuriaMusic.com introducing her second show Between The Sheets. Her experience with both online stations motivated her to exclusively concentrate on podcasting. She’s been hooked on both vintage clothing and records since she was a pre-teen. When she’s not taking pictures or designing you’ll find her cherry picking hidden gems all over the country. She is the founder and creator of fusionsoffancy.com and the creator of the Bopalacious website.
